May Pahabol

Fellow otakus Jenn & Lola
(Zombie at Tiffany's shirt by Threadless.)
May 7: Local comics fandom is slowly but surely gaining ground to a point where the local conventions are charging triple digit prices. Case in point: went w/ Jennifer Chua to the Metro ComiCon at Megamall and was shocked to see tickets going for 120 bucks! Perhaps it was to fund the raffle or maybe to pay a partial appearance fee for David "V for Vendetta" Lloyd, but the latter's unlikely because National Bookstore was the one who sponsored him. No gems for me in the back-issue bins, but Jen bought a copy of VforV and got Lloyd to autograph and sketch on it for her.

DC and Marvel's strongest compare bust sizes.
May 21: My friend Meena (w/ her husband William) held a End-of-the-World party, to celebrate (or openly mock) nutty preacher Harold Camping's prediction of the Rapture. (The guy's been wrong before, so perhaps the 2nd time's the charm.) Most of the guests were William's co-workers from the British International School, and by no coincidence most of them were also his neighbors as the school housed them in the same building at Salcedo Park in Makati.  Beer and Doritos were served in abundance, so as apocalypse snacks go it was perfect.
Fellow Apocalypse survivors Michelle, Talib, Meena, Jenny and Mary. Next we have Isabelle, Random Dude and Izzy's friend whose name escapes me. Sorry!

May 26: Robbylyn's back from London for good. Last time we met it was w/ Mona. Now she managed to quadruple (more or less) the guestlist. Dinner was at Abe in Serendra, w/ a nightcap at Seattle's Best, where Robs was on a first-name basis w/ the barista named Mike. Fellow Brit "expat" Martha came w/ her new fiancé Darwin (she pronounces/enunciates it as "Dah-win"), who followed her all the way from Australia. Ah, true love. Also present was infanticipating newlywed Jehan and hubbie Bren.

Front row, L to R: Darwin, Martha, Jehan, Robbylyn, Melissa, Mona, Cheryl and Winnie.
Back row, L to R: Bren, Dianne, Stephen, Robertson, Michael, Me
